What Our Clients Say

Over 100+ 5 Star Reviews

It is the best thing I have ever done. I always knew
I had to do this but didn’t know how.
I walk around after the treatment
feeling like I could fly. It’s great.
Highly recommend it.

Mary Ann, 59

I have suffered with Candida most of my life, going to doctors,
naturopaths and following diets with no success. If anything
I felt worse. I was at my wits’ end when I went to Bottoms Up.
I started having colonics and following the Body Ecology way of
life three months ago and I feel like a new woman.

Cheryl, 58

All my friends have been commenting on how good I look and so of course I’ve been telling them my secret – getting my bum cleaned!
They all want to try it now. When I was telling them about colonics, probiotics and everything else, I realised just how much I have learnt and
how much my diet has changed. So THANK YOU.

What is a closed colonic?

This is the type of colonic we use at Bottoms Up. During a closed colonic you lie on a massage bed and your therapist inserts a speculum with inlet and outlet tubing attached. This allows water to circulate in the colon and for waste to be removed. Your therapist remains in the room performing the treatment and massages your abdomen with pure grade aromatherapy oil.

During an open colonic, you are usually by yourself during the session. You lie on a purpose-built bed with a hole for the waste to enter and leave while running water continuously goes into the colon. This treatment relies on the integrity of the colon to hold and release.

Is good bacteria removed?

Simply put, yes a colonic does remove good bacteria, but no more than a normal bowel movement would do. The function of a colonic is to remove the bad bacteria and create a clean environment where good bacteria want to thrive

What are the hygiene standards?

The only thing we share at our clinics is conversation! At Bottoms Up our hygiene standards are extremely high. We have disposable speculums and tubing which are never used more than once. Beds and bathrooms are meticulously wiped down after each treatment and each client has a clean covering for modesty. All our equipment is TGA-approved and free of nasties like petroleum and BPA.

Does it hurt?

Colonic hydrotherapy is not a painful process, but it can be a bit uncomfortable at times, particularly before a release. It just feels like you want to poo. Your therapist will use a moulded disposable speculum and this is only inserted into the anus NOT the actual bowel. No force is applied. We have a pressure gauge on our equipment that indicates how much pressure is inside and this is adjusted to keep you comfortable. But our biggest gauge is your face! Our goal is the effective hydration and absorption of the bowel, not how much water we can get into the colon.

Will I be embarrassed?

Possibly, but after 10 minutes or so you should relax. Our therapists often use the treatment themselves and are very respectful and sympathetic to how you feel. They do their best to put you at your ease. You're covered discreetly, your tummy is massaged and the warm water is soothing for your bowel. Faecal matter is removed via the tube so there is no odour or mess.

Can my bowel be stretched?

Your colon is a muscle like any other. It has the ability to stretch and contract. A colonic is like taking your colon to the gym. We promote peristalsis which means your bowel starts to contract and expand. It is a great work out for the colon, improving the integrity of this important muscle.
